Before you can build audiences using warehouse data, you need to create a connection between mParticle and your cloud data warehouse.

Connections allow mParticle to authenticate with your warehouse, such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks—and run SQL queries directly on your data based on the audiences you create.

\n

A connection is a critical part of the Composable Audiences setup. Once configured, it becomes the foundation for creating data models, which in turn define the specific fields and tables you’ll use when building audiences.

\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n What you can do on the Connections page

\n

The Connections page, located under Data Warehouse > Connections, lets you view, manage, and monitor all warehouse connections in your workspace.

From this page, you can:

\n

To create a new connection between mParticle and your cloud data warehouse:

    Select your warehouse platform:

  1. Follow the platform-specific instructions to grant mParticle secure access to your data warehouse.

You must complete at least one connection before you can create data models or define audiences.

\n

Each row in the Connections table represents a single warehouse connection. You can:

ColumnDescription
NameThe name you assigned to the connection. Click to view or edit details.
Service ProviderThe cloud data warehouse (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks).
StateIndicates whether the connection is New, Active, or Inactive. Inactive connections cannot be used to run or refresh audiences.
StatusIndicates if the connection is Healthy or Unhealthy. A Healthy status means mParticle can successfully connect and run queries. If a connection is Unhealthy, see Troubleshooting a connection.
Data ModelsNumber of data models associated with the connection. You must create a model before using the connection in an audience.
Created OnDate and time the connection was created. Useful for auditing.
Created ByThe mParticle user who created the connection.

To delete a connection:

\n

If a connection to your cloud data warehouse shows as Unhealthy or fails when you try to run a query, start by reviewing the most common issues below. Many problems can be resolved by checking credentials and permissions before involving your data team or contacting mParticle support.
