Consent filters control which user profiles mParticle forwards to audience output configurations based on each profile’s recorded General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) consent state.

You can reuse a consent filter across multiple audience output configurations. The filter applies the same consent conditions to every audience connected to those outputs.

Go to Oversight > Privacy > Consent Filters to view, create, and manage your consent filters. The list shows where each filter is applied and identifies the workspace default.

To create a consent filter:

  1. Go to Oversight > Privacy > Consent Filters.
    2. \n
  2. Select New Consent Filter.
    3. \n
  3. Enter a descriptive name for your consent filter.
    4. \n

    Under Forwarding Rules, choose how matching profiles are handled:

    Select Add Condition, then choose a regulation and consent state:

  6. Add any other conditions the filter requires. Conditions in a filter use AND logic.

    Under Forwarding Scope, choose how to apply the filter:

You can select audience output configurations when you create or edit a consent filter. You can also apply an existing filter from the audience output configuration list:

  1. Go to Data Platform > Setup > Outputs.
    2. \n
  2. Select the Audience tab.
    3. \n
  3. Use the Consent Filters Applied column to review which configurations have a consent filter.

  4. To apply a consent filter to an output configuration, click the + icon under the Consent Filters Applied column.

  5. Select the consent filter you want to apply.

\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Workspace default and filter precedence

\n

A workspace-default consent filter acts as a fallback for every audience output configuration that doesn’t have a manually assigned filter. It also applies automatically to new audience output configurations.

\n

When you manually assign a filter to a specific output configuration, that filter takes precedence over the workspace default. Removing the manually assigned filter causes the output configuration to inherit the workspace default again, if one exists.

\n

If you remove the Workspace Default designation, output configurations that relied on that default no longer have a consent filter. Assign filters to those configurations or set a new workspace default to continue filtering them.

\n\n

On the Consent Filters page, open a filter’s actions menu to edit or delete it. Changes to a filter’s name, forwarding behavior, or conditions apply to every audience output configuration that uses the filter.

If you use a suppression audience to enforce consent, migrate the rule to the audience output before removing the suppression audience:

  1. Create an equivalent consent filter for the audience output configuration.
    2. \n
  2. Review the resulting forwarding rule.
    3. \n
  3. Apply the filter to the output configuration.
    4. \n
  4. Confirm that the output forwards profiles as expected.
    5. \n
  5. Remove the suppression audience to avoid applying the rule twice.
